Sandringham participates in the Kingston Division summer and winter round robins. The sports include basketball, soccer, badminton, table tennis, netball, hockey, volleyball, squash, futsal, AFL. Equal Opportunity sports gives students the chance to participate in sports that they may not have access to outside of school – girls can play AFL and boys can play netball.

This year our girls basketball team and boys netball team saw success – winning the Kingston Round Robin to move onto the Preliminary Final. The girls played against SEDA and whilst they didn’t win, they are the first girls basketball team in a number of years to proceed past the round robin phase. The boys netball saw further success, getting the better of Melbourne High by two goals in overtime. As a result, they move on to the Southern Metropolitan Finals Round Robin in Dandenong.

Sandringham also participates in athletics, swimming and cross country carnivals throughout the year , with regular success.

At Sandringham, sporting facilities include an indoor, sprung floor basketball/netball court. The majority of physical education classes and sport training sessions are held in the hall. We have the oval, which fits up to three full size soccer fields, which is often used by senior, junior and primary physical education and sport classes. Additionally, there are two full sized tennis courts, which can be converted to outdoor netball courts, available to our students.

At Sandringham Senior campus, an upgrade to the gymnasium/weights room is underway, which will allow not only VCE and VCAL physical education classes the opportunity to work out at a gym, but the greater school community.

During this term at the senior campus, an inter-program lunchtime sports tournament is being trialled. On Tuesdays, students will play basketball and Thursdays students can play indoor soccer. Teams are mixed and finals will be held in the early weeks of term 4.
