• Performing Arts

     

    The Performing Arts Program at Senior Campus includes every VCE Performing Arts study and is renowned for the outstanding quality of its teaching staff, facilities and student performance.

     

    The Performing Arts Program is widely recognized that the best the state has to offer for students with a serious interest in performing. The courses have been developed to maximize students’ scope for practical work and creative expression, and many graduates from the program have gained entry to University and TAFE courses or found employment in the entertainment industry.

     

    Sandringham’s reputation is well known within the entertainment industry and prominent casting agents visit our shows. On many occasions Sandringham students have been used in the production of community and commercial film or advertising projects.

     

    Over the years, Performing Arts students have obtained numerous awards and distinctions for both group and individual achievements, including Premier’s Awards and Top Acts.

     

    Some features of the program include the annual visit to The Adelaide Performing Arts Festival or Sydney Theatre Tour and the biannual tour to England and America. This spectacular trip includes the performance of an Australian production in both countries.

     

    Each the College Musical Production provides an opportunity for over 150 students throughout the College to develop and apply their talents in acting, music, dance, stage management and set design.

     

    The excellence of Performing Arts at the Senior Campus is further highlighted through various dramatic and musical performances, which are conducted and presented in our new purpose-built theatre performance space. This space enables Drama and Theatre students to spend their class time in a genuine theatre environment, and to experience a performance atmosphere, as well as a practical stagecraft skills. We also offer a VET Acting Course for students wishing to pursue acting as a profession.

     

    Dance has been an important aspect of the Performing Arts at Sandringham College for the past 10 years. Dance students have a well-equipped dance studio- (located at the Sandringham 7-10 Campus) with barres, mirrors and tarquette floor – in which to practice. Students have the opportunity to performance at ‘Winterdance’ festival and community dance events throughout the year. Dance Graduates have been accepted into dance courses, opened their own studios, and gained employment as professional dances. Throughout the two years, students have the opportunity to work with professional guest artists as well as view performances in a range of styles.

     

    Students interested in Music have the opportunity of completing the VET Music programs. Past students have had work placement in a number of Music Industry settings including Festivals, Recording Studios, Radio, Retail and Instrument Repair, which prepares them for work in this competitive field.

     

    The Music Department also has two state-of-the-art Hard Disk Recording Studios which enables students to learn hands-on recording and CD production skills.
