Sandringham College welcomes students from many different overseas countries, including China, Japan, Hong Kong, Brazil, Germany, Sweden and India.

The College enrols between 35 and 55 international full fee paying students at any time and works with a variety of agencies, a wide range of support programs, arranges homestay accommodation where required and assists students to experience a smooth transition into the Australian education system.

Students like coming to Sandringham College for a variety of reasons which include:

The students usually come to the College to study VCE although some students attend the College from year 7 level. On arrival, depending on the English skills of the student, the international students spend time in the Sandringham College English Language Centre which is located at the Sandringham Campus. When students feel ready and are able they can choose from over 70 VCE studies, including a choice of English or English as a Second Language at year 11 or year 12.

Support Programs Operating At Sandringham Secondary College

  • An Overseas Student Manager who oversees each student's learning program and their transition into the community.
  • Each student works with a multi-cultural aide who ensures that the students fully understand the work being taught and assists the student in community matters.
  • A Homestay Coordinator who ensures accommodation is carefully selected and matched to student needs.
  • Airport reception
  • Interpreter service
  • Medical Information
  • Orientation Program and Information pack.
  • Advice and help to purchase new and second hand books.

Application to study as an International Student must be made through the Department of Education and Early Childhood Development (DEECD).
