Every second year, Sandringham College run the Indonesian study tour to Jogjakarta and Bali for students studying Indonesian at Year 9, 10 and 11. The tour is specifically designed to give students to experience the Indonesian way of living, to practice their Indonesian in a real life situation and to broaden their understanding of other cultures. The tour will include two different islands; Java and Bali.
In Jogjakarta (Java), students will visit the Sultan (King) Palace, learn how to do Javanese dance, visit the Borobudur temple and experience the sunrise from 265 metre above sea level and one of the UNESCO World Heritage Sites. Students will also learn how to do Batik drawing, experience the Andong ride and visit a school to practice their Indonesian.
In Bali, students will visit the Green School Bali; it’s known for the ecologically-sustainable design and focus on sustainability education for young students. Students will also visit some of the famous Bali’s tourist destinations. To end the trip, they will spend their last day at Waterbom Bali.
The next Indonesian tour is planned for July 2017. An information evening will be held Tuesday, 6 September 2016 at 6pm in Bluff Road library. An invitation letter will be distributed to applicalbe students closer to the date.
